The current generation of young developers has been brainwashed by tech influencers from overfunded platforms to see everything as too difficult for them to comprehend.

This tweet originates from an interview by Lex Fridman with @levelsio.
There’s a clip on Lex Fridman’s channel that summarizes @levelsio
s most “controversial” take. In my own words, he basically says that frameworks are like medicine prescribed by those who create the illnesses.
Here’s the thing: he’s a prolific indie developer and entrepreneur` who gets everything done with a simple stack: PHP, jQuery, and a VPS. It’s true that he’s hired specialists (e.g., in AI), but for his core development, he uses this basic setup. And this approach may or may not be ideal for everyone.
Here’s what I’ve observed:
- Most of this discussion doesn’t consider the realities of LATAM developers.
- Some startups cripple themselves by using trendy, expensive, and “lock-in” technologies.
- Some developers do enjoy staying up-to-date with the latest trends, learning new frameworks, and deploying on new cloud platforms to improve their skills or meet market demands.
My hot take? Those who are truly building things use what they know best!
Languages, frameworks, libraries, algorithms, scripts – everything in this realm – is just a tool.
No es la flecha, es el indio. (It’s not the arrow, it’s the archer.)
